WITH SO MUCH SUCCESS WITH SIGNING JAPANESE PLAYERS, METS MANGEMENT ADDS ANOTHER. I guess Omar Minaya figures, one of these days the Mets will find a diamond in the rough out in the Pacific Rim with the siging of 32 year old RHP swingman Yusaku Iriki. Iriki played for the Nipon Ham Fighters last season and showed some strike out ability. Here are his numbers for that last years: Year Age IP H K BB HR ERA 2001 28 162.1 143 137 58 19 3.71 2002 29 133.0 120 115 26 13 3.05 2003 *************************************** 2004 31 45.0 57 38 32 8 7.20 2005 32 150.2 147 122 65 16 3.35 I wish I could tell you why Omar went out and signed this guy but I it just tells you that the last three spots in the bullpen are up for grabs. http://www.amazinavenue.com/story/2006/1/18/41433/4468 (TO POST A COMMENT PLEASE CLICK ON THE TIME OF THIS POSTING) < |
