JOEL SHERMAN IS OFF HIS FEED I don't know what it is this winter, Joel Sherman the baseball writer for the NY Post has written fewer columns this off season than ever. In fact during the winter meetings I was checking all the milk cartons I came in contact with for his picture. So when I opened up the New York Post today and saw he had a column I couldn't wait to dig in. I ended up very disapointed. First, Sherman recycles the Barry Zito to the Mets news that's been discussed last week. Then he throws out a line that Omar is interested in Jose Contreas. Where did that come from? Sherman then calls up the time when Omar was running the Expos and traded Grady Sizemore and Cliff Lee for Bart Colon as a panic move. I guess Sherman was not at Oamr's first presser as Mets GM when he said those trades were made to make a run at the division as the Expos were ready for contraction, so Omar shot the wad and who could blame him. Here Sherman comes up with the tired refrain of the Mets will have to trade Lastings Milledge to get a top starting pitcher. Please, unless there is a 25 year old Sandy Koufax, Milledge is not going anywhere. Hopefully Sherman will get his act together by Sunday whenhe puts out his weekend baseball column. Maybe Jon Heyman can throw him some scraps. (TO POST A COMMENT PLEASE CLICK ON THE TIME OF THIS POSTING) < |
