HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM OMAR MINAYA Last Thanksgiving Omar went to break bread with Pedro and offer him a boatload of cash and Pedro signed on the Mets dotted line. This Thanksgivng, Omar visited the Florida Marlins Soup Kitchen and took a monetary burden off their destitute hands as Carlos Delgado is not only a Met but he brings a check for $7mil with him. All it took was Mike Jacobs and Yusermiro Petit, which as much as a like both players, is a very small price to pay for a slugger of Delgado's stature. Now there are some fans who are not happy with this deal and I am a little leery of how Delgado is going to handle NYC and the media jackals. I did listen to an interview that Joe Benigno did with Blue Jays GM J.P. Riccardi and Riccardi had nothing but glowing reports about how Delgado approaches his job and how professional he is on and off the field. Now there is baggage with Delgado as he has to sit down with Omar and Tony Bernazard and straighten out the problems they had last year. Plus there is the issue of Delgado's asshole agent who will be firing e-mails off to everyone with an e-mail address. I can understand the trepidation with some folks as we Mets fans have had our hearts broken so much and our hopes dashed that we look at every deal as a disaster but to get a 30+ home run 100+ rbi guy for two minor leaguers is a deal that's hard to knock.
