"LOST IN THE SCOTT KAZMIR FIASCO WAS THE TRADING OF DAN WHEELER" He was a favorite of mine and I knew the Mets madE a mistake when they let Dan Wheeler go to Houston. Wheeler is just what you want in middle reliever, he throws strikes and he works cheap. In 2003 with the Mets Wheeler pitched 51 innings and walked 17 and struckout 35. In 50 innings with the Mets before he was shipped to Houston (for where is he now, Adam Suess) he walked 17 and K'd 46. This year with the Astros as part of one of the better bullpens in baseball, Wheeler has walked 19 and K'd 69 in 73 innings of work. How good would that have been with the Mets to go with Heilman, Bert, and Juan Padila down the stretch? I just hope Omar doesn't make the same mistake with Heath Bell as the (Lame) Duke did with Wheeler. (TO POST A COMMENT PLEASE CLICK ON THE TIME OF THIS POSTING) < |
