Mark Hermann has a coulmn today on the all the things that make this Mets team one to root for and not to tear down. [ Despair is something they just don't do. It is partly because they have young players, partly because the club is confident, partly because it is as brash as Martinez's taste in clothing, partly because it is just kind of goofy. It is partly that the other wild-card contenders keep losing. Mostly it is because the Mets know that despair never did anybody any good.] Wasn't it is just a year ago that Cliff Floyd said "there's no light at the end of the tunnel" and that Keith Hernandez called the team a bunch of quitters? I guess a manager gets no credit for the turn around of a negative mind set.,0,5877721.column?coll=ny-sports-print < |
