"WHILE IT'S NOT NOLAN RYAN FOR JIM FERGOSI, I STILL CNA'T UNDERSATND WHY MATT GINTER HAD TO BE TRADED?" Not only trade but trade for a non-descript lefhanded pitcher named Steve Coyler form that "pitching rich" organization the Detriot Tigers. If the Mets were in the NFL Coyler would be a a good pick up as he's 6'4" and 235 lbs which would make him a good sized strog safety or linebacker but the Mets play baseball and Coyler is not very good at playing that game. Take a wild guess whay problem Coyler has? Yup, he walks to many batters. He has a tough time with his command. Here are the comments from the 2005 Baseball Prospectus on Coyler: ["acquired last April for Cody Ross in a deal that involved swapping a token outfielder for a notional second lefty. If somebody came out ahead, it would take a mass spectrometer to measure how. He won't have much of a futire if his command remains as bad as it's been"} Someone has some explaining to do here. Ginter had a very good spring and looked as though he would make the 25 man as the long man. Again guaranteed contracts talk, talented youngsters walk. < |
