There is not much happening in Mets land as we count down (19 days) till pitchers and catchers report to Port St. Lonesome. We have talked about the Shane Spencer/Karim Garcia platoon (yea) and the signing of Todd Zeile(nay) and how about Zeile giving disrespect to the Evil Empire, this is like Rosie ODonnell saying she would never enter the Miss America pageant. So as we await the end of our winter of discontent there is a little light at the end of the horizon. I don't know how many SABR members read this site, but next Saturday February 7th, the Casey Stengel Chapter of SABR will hold its winter regional meeting at The Gallery at the Gershwin Hotel. The guest speaker will be Tom Keegan of the Wally and the Keeg Radio Show on ESPN1050 radio. Keegan was the top baseball columnist for the New York Post and the co-author of books like "Sleeper Cars and Flannel Uniforms with Elden Aucker and "My Sixty Years in Baseball" with Ernie Harwell. Non-SABR members are invited to join us at this event. < |
