It's 1 degree outside and all I can think about is baseball. Mets baseball. Mets baseball with Vladimir Guerrero playing RF. This is nuts! Then I read Newsday and Jon Heyman's column. Here's the first paragraph: "Word was Guerrero and the Mets were closing in on a deal that would guarantee Guerrero the Great $30 million, and if that's true, Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon and general manager Jim Duquette should be handcuffed, photographed and fingerprinted for big-league robbery" Suddenly in this bone chilling cold, I'm beaking into a sweat. Here is a quote from a mole in the Mets camp that Heyman has talked to: "It's 80 percent done," one Mets employee wrote me in an e-mail. The employee was loath to celebrate too early. Disappointment is a way of life on Roosevelt Avenue. The employee ended his e-mail ominously: "I hope they don't screw up the last 20 percent." Yes please Duke, Sr.Skill Sets, Little Jeffy please don't F this up. < |
