RECAP OF NFL PICKS WEEK 16 Patriots -3 over JETS Patriots 21 Jets 16 The Pats make it 11 in a row with Willie McGinst and the defense leading the way. Jet QB Chad Pennington with 5 picks and J-E-T-S (very) offensive coordinator Paul Hackett with just awful play calling helped do in the Jets. As I’ve posted before, the highlight of this game was Broadway Joe Namath telling ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber that he wanted to kiss her. Joe was feeling no pain on those arthritic knees on Saturday night. The Boston Belichicks now need a win on Sunday to have home field throughout the playoffs, as the road to the Super Bowl will go thru Foxboro. Oh I almost forgot, memo to Messers Mara and Tisch: Please hire Romeo Crennel as Head Coach of the New York Football Giants. Thank you. COWBOYS -10 ½ over Giants Cowboys 19 Giants 3 Team Tuna is headed for the tournament for the first time since 1999. Parcells is now the first coach in NFL history to lead 4 teams to 10 wins in a season. I hope all the schmucks who did not vote for Parcells for the football Hall of Fame are choking on their eggnog. This team, with just about the same personnel, went 5-11 last year and had the look of a loser. When Parcels took over this team he told them that making the playoffs is not good enough but the Super Bowl was the goal. As all of Parcells team do, they bought into the program and now they can hold their heads up high. On the other side of the field the New York Heartless Bastards have the heads up their butts. Their lamest of lame duck coache Jim Fassel said, the team played hard and he was proud of the effort. As a great football coach once said “There are no medals for trying”. EAGLES -7 ½ over 49ers 49ers 31 Eagles 28 (OT) Unbelievable turn of events at the end of this game. The Iggles were down 28-21 with 1:02 left in the 4th quarter when Donavan McNabb hit Todd Pinkston in the end zone for a 19-yard TD. With the extra point, the Iggles had tied the score plus they had momentum on their side heading to overtime. After winning the coin toss and receiving the ball, the Iggles looked like they would have a big time win and a clinch of the NFC East. But, McNabb threw a pass from his own 21 and it was picked off by Tony Parrish (his 2nd pick of the day) who returned the ball to the Iggle 4 yard line. After a couple of plays, Niners kicker Todd Peterson kicked a 22-yard FG and San Francisco had a rare road win. Week 17 Record 2-1 YTD Record 26-19-3 < |
